Learning Cell Phone Forensics

Conducting forensics on cellular devices is an activity that can be carried out for various reasons, learning the procedures required to do this will enable the individual to conduct forensic analysis on various cellular phones which can be done using a Cellebrite UFED device.

Learning cell phone forensics consists of several modules including an understanding in cellular phone and network technology, an introduction to cellular phone operating systems as well as SIM cards and removable media, knowledge of legal aspects and courtroom testimonies as well as preserve and secure digital evidence.

Using a Cellebrite device the individual will be competent in forensic analysis, extracting data from cell phones and PDAs including the phonebook, images, videos, messages and call logs. The reason the Cellebrite device is Knowledge Center Inc.´s choice device is the usability of it, with it´s lightweight portability, with support on over 1,600 handset models and it´s ability to standalone with no requirements of computers for extraction.

To provide quality and professional training in the above knowledge Center Inc. offers our clients a two and a half day boot camp course that can be with or without the necessary equipment being supplied. Upon completion of the course the investigator can return to their job with the necessary knowledge and equipment and immediately begin to put the practice to work using their cell phone forensic skills.

To complete the knowledge there is a pass/fail examination so that the individual has the opportunity to become a Certified CelleBrite Mobile Device Examiner.

Once the 2 and a half day boot camp has been successfully complete there is an option to proceed on to an advanced cell phone forensics course where the skills set goes a little further into each module and provides some deeper insight into cell phone forensics, for more information 0on wither of these courses please visit our website at www.knowledgecenetrinc.com.

What is CompTIA Network+ and Why Use It

CompTIA offers a whole range of IT training courses and we will discuss more this week, but today we are going to look at the CompTIA Network+ Certification and what iot can do for you.

The CompTIA Network+ certification is designed to show the competence of all networking professionals. It is a recognized international, vendor-neutral certification that shows a technician’s competency in maintaining, managing,  installing troubleshooting and configuring basic network infrastructure.

It was introduced in 1999, and since that time more than 235,000 people have become CompTIA Network+ certified. Compnaies such as Microsoft include CompTIA Network+ in their Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) program, and other corporations such as Novell, HP and Cisco also use and display the  CompTIA Network+ certification as part of their business.

Although not compulsory, it is recommended that CompTIA Network+ candidates have at least nine months experience in network support, administration or academic training, along with the CompTIA A+ certification – again, not compulsroy but a good starting point.

In 2009 a newer version of the  CompTIA Network+ certification exam was released. There are two options for the IT professional who is encouraged or required by their employers to stay up to date on their certifications:  the new version of the exam, or the CompTIA Network+ bridge exam, which covers the new objectives. The exam, code BR0-002, is a 60-minute, 50-question test. A passing score is 500 on a scale of 100-900.

Only professionals who are currently CompTIA Network+ certified under the 2005 objectives are eligible to become CompTIA Network+ 2009 certified by taking the bridge exam.

Career in IT Security

You are an established IT professional. But you think there are more vistas to be explored. In that case, network security can be the answer to your queries. Network security has become the most debated and most concerned factor in the IT industry over the years. Hackers and other such elements play their mischievous tricks for personal benefits and sometimes just for pleasure. Cyber crimes have always given a hard time to network administrators. Malware, viruses, trojans, spyware, worms etc. have become synonymous to headache for software professionals.

As a cyber security professional your job is to protect stored data as well as the systems itself in the networks that are connected to the internet and accessible online. Hackers use various methods to damage the system, steal secret information or delete stored data. The whole system might be disabled because of this or can be controlled by the hackers. They easily find weak links or loopholes in the system and break into it. But you can also be a professional ethical hacker on the right side of the law. In that case you have to put yourself in the hacker’s shoes and find out the points that can be attacked.

There are a lot of other profiles apart from ethical hacking that you can have as a network security professional. You can be involved in the over all security policy decisions, design the entire security system or overlook the entire system as administrator. Security auditing is another option that includes inspecting and reporting about a company’s security system and see if it matches standards. If you are too geeky for this you can go for cyber forensics that would include investigation of cyber crimes. Otherwise you can simply become a security trainer after a few years of experience.

The demand of skilled security professionals is constantly increasing in the IT industry and that is why going for a certification related to security can open lots of doors in your career. There are many such certification courses that you can opt for. As far as prerequisites are concerned, people who are already working in the software are preferred. So technology graduates do have an edge. But many such courses are offered to other graduates also. If you are tech savvy and able to pick up quickly, your background should not be a problem.

But you should always ensure that you get your certification from reputed trainers. You can attend some classes at training institutes before taking any certification exams. Some standard cyber security certifications include Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Management (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP), Security+

So, considering the increasing incidents of security breach and internet frauds, a security certification definitely seems to be a good investment for software professionals as well as the rookies wanting to break into the industry.  Just make sure that you select the right certification according to your aptitude and interest.

The CISA Certification Guide

Through educating yourself or your employees through the Certified Information Systems Auditor exam you will be learning knowledge and concepts covering the six core domains required for the CISA certification.

With over 60,000 security professionals holding the certificate which has become the gold standard of excellence in IS auditing, control, and security you can see that it is a well established, and respected certification.
